Selling Home:

Urban sprawl is a much debated topic as cities spill over into rural land creating new landscapes. Sociologists, politicians, property developers and urban planners all have opinions on how people’s lives should be structured in the expanding suburbia. A common feature of this new landscape is the sales office and model home. In these temporary meeting places neighbourhood and community are commodified. Here the promise of permanence and stability is sold from a rolling platform, quality and depth from a room full of many dimensions. It is a house where deals are made and dreams sold, as the price is determined for one’s own piece of paradise. As new sub-divisions expand,  “privacy” versus “community” is negotiated within the context of property lines. Fences are erected to keep in and keep out. In this expansion the power grid is established to bring light to life and security to all. Nature is organized and ground broken.
